Eastern Cape Dept of Roads and Public Works Bursary / Scholarship SA 2018 – 2019

The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works (ECDPW) aim to supply high quality infrastructure services to its residents.

The ECDPW implemented the bursary scheme to promote skill development within fields of study related to Roads and Public Works. This year the department will be awarding bursaries to 25 students who reside within the province of the Eastern Cape. Students must be studying in a field of study that has been recognised as a critical skills area


Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Architectural Studies (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Building Management (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Construction Health and Safety Management (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Real Estate (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Landscape Architecture (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Town and Regional Planning (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Property Management/ Property Studies (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Interior Design (Degree/ National Diploma)
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Management (Degree)
  • Civil Engineering (BSc)

Once graduated, students will be required to work for the Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works, for an equal period of time as the bursary awarded.


Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen
  • Permanent resident within the Eastern Cape province
  • From a disadvantaged background
  • High academic results/ strong potential
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or plan on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study (scarce skills areas)
  • Studying or plan on studying at a recognised tertiary institution in SA
  • NOT currently in possession of any other bursary funding
  • In financial need

The following supporting documents must accompany your application:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Latest academic progress report (certified copy)
  • Last years tertiary results, if already at university (certified copy)
  • Letter of acceptance from a tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence from your local authority (certified copy)
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income with an affidavit
